Updating site content type failed infopath

:-) Thanks for the tip Robbie, so it is a flaw in the product with publishing content types? Who exactly does testing for this stuff at Microsoft?

Now if I go about administrator approved forms, that means I'll have to redeploy every form I have to each and every subsite I have? One other thing, is it possible to modify a site template through say, Sharepoint Designer?

What I realized when I dug into the issue is that Info Path 2007 couldn’t modify the content type because it had been created at the site collection level – not the subsite level that I was doing my testing from.

You can only modify a content type from where it was created.

As add Event Listener method (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff975245(v=vs.85).aspx) is supported only in IE 9 and above (prior to IE 9, attach Event was used instead – https://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ms536343(v=vs.85).aspx), the above error is thrown when the page is loaded in IE 8 mode as IE 8 does not support this add Event Listener method. After 30 days , the self signed certificate has expired and the Info Path forms have stopped working again. We have tried to do the same, create another self signed certificate but this time, we do not the content type and when we go and check the site content types, I do not see my content type listed there. This one was my favorite because there wasn’t anything in the content type that I asked Info Path to update.I realized later that it was updating the document template but I wasn’t thinking about that when I saw the error message.
