Now you need to ask your phone to install the application.
Head into either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and press download just like any other app.
The “Allow automatic updating” check box is also available in the right pane.
If you select the “Allow automatic updating” check box so there is a check mark in the box, the following dialog box displays asking if you want to turn on auto-update for all apps.
Facebook has decreed you may no longer message your friends through the normal Android, i OS or Windows Phone app.
You now have to head into the dedicated Messenger app that brings about the floating heads feature and is entirely separate to Facebook’s other features.
Now when you’re back inside the normal Facebook app you’ll be able to access your messages just like before.
We will show you how to do it in both the old and the new versions.
It also wouldn’t surprise us if Facebook cottons on to the method and finds a way around it in the near future.
If you’ve not already downloaded the Messenger app you will be prompted to get it when you head into the normal Facebook app.
NOTE: You can view details about the permissions required for an app by touching “Permission details” at the bottom of the app’s page in the Google Play Store.
To turn off automatic updates in version 5.0 of the Play Store, open the Play Store and touch the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the screen. If your apps have been updating automatically, the “Auto-update apps” setting in the “General” section on the “Settings” screen will read “Auto-update apps at any time.
